Spanish carrier Vueling has endorsed ’s CS300 as a viable airframe for budget carrier, with CEO Alex Cruz telling the World Low Fare Airlines Congress in London that “the CSeries will be the new narrowbody in town for a long time.”
Vueling is in the process of placing an order for at least 60 aircraft, and is considering the CSeries along side theand the MAX. Cruz says an order will be placed in the next few months.
Bombardier is now offering a 160-seat high capacity version of the CS300 in addition to the 149-seat product previously offered, and Cruz says the higher seating will still be a comfortable.
Vueling’s CEO also noted that the Canadian government is eager to help with the financing; “That is also quite an asset,” he added.
Vueling currently operates a fleet of Airbus A320s, and when it started to consider a new fleet Cruz only considered Airbus andproducts.
The same situation occurred at Air Baltic. The airline in late June was about to place an order for either the NEO or the MAX, but a last-minute proposal by Bombardier led the airline’s management to change its mind. Air Baltic CEO Martin Gauss said Airbus and Boeing could not match the Bombardier offer.

Bombardier plans to fly the first CS100 by the year-end and deliver it by the end of 2013. The first stretched CS300 is scheduled to fly a year later and be delivered at the end of 2014.
