(LHT) has set up -5 on-site engine support service in Montreal, landing longtime ally as its first customer.
LHT’s engine services airline support team offers a variety of on-wing and on-site support, including module and blade replacements as well as case repairs. The group currently supports CFM56-5As and -5Bs, but plans call for expansion to other engine types as demand warrants, LHT says.
The deal continues the well-established cooperation between LHT and Air Canada. Last year, Air Canada awarded LHT a six-year contract to overhaul its CFM56-5 fleet following the closing of Aveos, the Canadian-based MRO that handled most of Air Canada’s airframe and engine work. Air Canada operates 86 CFM56-5-powered-family aircraft.
In addition, LHT has a long-term component support deal for Air Canada’s 18-aircraftfleet.
In 1998, LHT and Air Canada also co-founded—along with—surplus parts supplier AirLiance Materials. LHT took over that business completely last year, and sold it to Kellstrom Commercial Aerospace last month.
