Qatar Airways has signed a strategic partnership with Indian information technology company Wipro to build new aviation IT products to meet the airline’s business requirements.

The partnership was officially signed at the Doha headquarters of Qatar Airways by its chief executive officer, Akbar Al Baker, and Wipro chairman Azim Premji.

“Through this agreement, Wipro will work with us to build new aviation IT solutions to meet our business needs in a fast-moving environment to ultimately provide an overall enhanced customer experience and provide Qatar Airways with competitive edge in using the latest technology available,” Al Baker says.

Wipro says the products jointly developed in the partnership will enable Qatar Airways and its subsidiaries to pursue their aggressive growth strategies. The agreement will further enhance Wipro’s capabilities within the aviation sector, as well as increase Wipro’s commitment to the Qatar market.

Under the new arrangement, much of the software development will be carried out by Wipro in South India. Qatar Airways will be able to tap into Wipro’s vast pool of highly technical resources, as well as research and development centers, to explore and take advantage of new technology.
