I just spoke with Roscoe Musselwhite about the drivers behind Kellstrom acquiring AirLiance Materials.
Roscoe, president and CEO of AirLiance, will hold the same title but at Kellstrom Commercial Aerospace. "We've got two great companies coming together," with very little customer overlap--and the synergies are strong, he says.
The acquisition also allows Kellstrom to split its commercial and defense businesses, which currently are co-located. The military side will stay in southern Florida but the commercial entities will consolidate at AirLiance's Chicago location, which brings diversity and grow opportunities to Kellstom's commercial aftermarket business.
Roscoe says he's just starting to integrate the companies and plans to roll out the company's new branding at the Paris Air Show.
In case you're wondering, Lufthansa Technik will continue to use Kellstrom and AirLiance as suppliers "but at arm's length."
