A target of 30 orders for its A380 by year-end may seem out of reach for Airbus, or maybe not. The airframer’s November order book showed no change for the super jumbo, with just Transaero's firm order for four A380s. But John Leahy told Aviation Week's Jens Flottau this week that he hopes Singapore Airlines firms up its MOU for five A380s by year-end, and the airframer is working on finalising a 'significant' order with another customer. We wait for that announcement with bated breath.
Meanwhile, Airbus is having better luck with its narrowbody. The undisclosed customer that appeared on the November order book for 100 A320s has today been revealed as AirAsia. The airline is ordering 64 more A320NEO and 36 A320 'CEO' aircraft.
Here's how the NEO firm order book now looks:
|Air Lease Corp||16||20|
|Arkia Israel Airlines Ltd.||4|
|Aviation Capital Group||30|
