The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) is backing up to $23.2 million in financing for the sale of AgustaWestland AW139 helicopters that will be operated by Brazil’s Omni Taxi Aereo (OTA). The Ex-Im Bank guarantee covers about 85% of the U.S. content of the export.

The helicopters will be sold to Omni Helicopters International, which will place the helicopters with OTA. The financing is the first support from the Ex-Im Bank for the twin-engine AW139 to OTA, which provides support for deepwater drilling rigs off the Brazilian coast.

The transaction is separate from the new Business Aircraft and Helicopter Qualified Advisory program that was announced during the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition in May.

The Ex-Im Bank recently announced the first loan guarantee under that program for the sale of a fleet of Sikorsky S-76D helicopters to Aeroservicios Especializados S.A. DE C.V. (ASESA) of Mexico.

Though the AW139 guarantee went through different channels, Ex-Im Bank officials say other qualified advisory deals are in the works.
