The (EASA) has approved ’s modifications for the litium-ion battery used for the ’s axillary power unit.
The same modification was approved by theApril 19.
EASA says it has approved the design changes for the APU battery, the battery charger and battery enclosure installation. The applicable airworthiness directive will now be updated, which will allow 787s operated by European carriers to return to service as soon as the modification is installed.
is the only European airline to have taken delivery of any 787s. The carrier’s new CEO, Sebastian Mikosz, says he hoped to start retrofitting aircraft by the end of the week and have its two 787s back in service in June.
