The very ambitious schedule to build Jet Aviation’s new mega hangar and merge it with its existing hangar and FBO at Singapore’s Seletar Aerospace Park is on schedule for completion by the end of March. This marks a significant achievement, given that the facility triples Jet Aviation’s footprint there, and groundbreaking only took place in April 2013.

The new 24-meter-high hangar with arched 100-meter free-span roof provides 5,000 square meters of floor area and can take a BBJ/ACJ or up to five G650 or Global 7000 size aircraft. It also provides an additional two-storey 2,500 square meters of office space, battery, tire and woodworking shops and two spray booths. The hangar is now complete in terms of roof, cladding, interior paint, lights, fans and fire suppression systems. The final jobs will be painting the hangar floor and furnishing the offices and foyer.

Keeping services moving with a major construction site in his backyard “has been a challenge,” admits Gary Dolski, VP and general manager Jet Aviation (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd. “Business aviation in Asia is hopping, and managing a full operation with 150-200 workers on site meant securing our working area with the joys of a construction site right beside us. While we were installing the new fire suppression system throughout the two hangars we were restricted to about 25% of our hangar capacity. We juggled that at the back end of December and January, when we had to support some aircraft on the ramp instead.”

Ramp space has also been expanded to give Jet Aviation (Booth E83) the largest business aviation ramp area at Seletar, with an additional 9,300 square meters. “We have ramps on both sides of the hangar so we had to install two new security gates as part of upgraded security regulations. All other airside tenants had been faced with this too.”

The company has a number of sub-tenants in its administration/FBO building. They include Dallas Airmotive and “we’re looking at having Honeywell and Rockwell setting up offices here too,” said Dolski. “We want to be a turnkey shop for the region.”
