To build new relationships with materials and machined component suppliers in Mexico, Rolls-Royce opened a new supply chain office on April 24 in the city of Guaymas, within the northwest Mexican state of Sonora.

The office, located in the Parque Industrial Roca Fuerte industrial park, will employ six people. Rolls-Royce also operates two other facilities for its marine business in Mexico in Veracruz and Ciudad del Carmen. Sonora is increasingly becoming a hub for aerospace machining. According to data from the Economic Development Council for Sonora, there are more than 7,000 employees with aerospace manufacturing jobs in the state.

Materials and machined components from suppliers in the area could end up in a variety of aerospace platforms, from regional engines to larger aircraft powerplants. Some of these parts also could be used in Rolls-Royce’s marine or energy products.
