Dubai Air Show organizers F&E Aerospace predict that this year’s show will be the biggest in the biennial event’s 26-year history with its new purpose-built 645,000-sq-m site double the size of the previous venue.

The 2013 show is expected to host up to 60,000 trade visitors and 1,000 exhibitors, including 200+ that are here for the first time – up 5% and 7% respectively from 2011. The UAE and Saudi Arabia boast the most participating companies, while Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Ukraine, United States and the U.S. State of Florida have their own dedicated pavilions.

In addition to the exhibition complexes, a larger static park than in the past will host up to 150 aircraft ranging from lightplanes and helicopters through UAVs, combat aircraft and military transports to the latest airliners. Noteworthy are the Sudanese SAFAT 03 basic trainer and Italian manufacturer Tecnam’s P2002JF and P2006T light aircraft, all making their Dubai debuts, the Bell/Boeing V-22 TiltRotor, a Qatar Airways Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, Emirates Airbus A380, and more than 50 business aircraft from all the major manufacturers.

Highlights of the flying display, which takes place from 2pm-5pm daily, include the Eurofighter Typhoon, Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet and – making its debut in the Gulf – the Airbus Military A400M airlifter. The show will also see the return of the UAE’s Al Fursan (The Knights) six-ship aerobatics team flying their Aermacchi MB-339NATs, and the Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows.
