Rotterdam Supports Djibouti Coast Guard Training

The Royal Netherlands Navy (RNN) landing ship dock Hr. Ms. Rotterdam has been busy since arriving in the Gulf of Aden. In addition to taking over from the RNN LCF air defense and command frigate Hr. Ms. Evertsen as the flagship of NATO's Operation Ocean Shield counterpiracy mission on 4 August, it has been providing training for the Djibouti coast guard.

Sixteen members of the country's coast guard received training from Royal Netherlands Marines when the Rotterdam was in Djibouti harbor on boarding ships and on operating Dutch weapons and equipment.

In addition to escorting ships and counterpiracy, Operation Ocean Shield includes reinforcing links with international partners.
