French Air Force Demos ASMPA Raid

The French air force has, for the first time, conducted an end-to-end test of its strategic strike capability using the ASMPA cruise missile (but, obviously, not the nuclear warhead).

The June 19 test involved a Rafale strike fighter belonging to 1/91 squadron home based at the 113 air base, where the mission began.

The five hour mission involved air-to-air refueling with a French C-135 refueler. The French air force says the mission involved both high-altitude cruise, and a low-altitude, terrain hugging phase to simulate penetration of enemy air space.
