CSeries Ahead Of The E-Jet...Sort Of


When Embraer's first E-Jet, the Embraer 170, took to the skies for the first time in February 2002, the program had accumulated 112 orders. With the first flight of the CS100 still at least six months away, the program has accumulated 148 orders to date, including ten announced by Air Baltic today.

While the CSeries has received criticism for its lack of orders, it is still ahead of Embraer's E-Jet program at the time its first aircraft flew. Despite only 112 orders at that time, Embraer's E-Jet program went on to become a success, accumulating over 1,000 orders to date.

The CSeries may not see the same massive orders that airlines have placed for the A320NEO and 737 MAX, but it still has the potential to become a successful program, assuming Bombardier can deliver as promised.
