Airbus A320 Fuel Tank AD

EASA issued a proposed airworthiness directive for Airbus A318, A319, A320 and A321aircraft would require new fuel tank safety systems. This is based on the FAA's Special Aviation Regulation (SFAR) 88 developed in response to flight TWA 800's 747 fuel tank explosion off New York's coast in 1996.

Based on the SFAR and JAA's interim policy on the topic, Airbus reviewed the fuel limitations and revised the Airworthiness Limitations Section Part 5 last September, which includes some component replacement and maintenance tasks.

EASA is accepting comments on this proposed AD by June 19.
