The Russian navy Typhoon-class submarine Dmitry Donskoy (photo) launched an R-30 Bulava ICBM in the White Sea in northeast Russia on Sept. 18. A navy spokesman quoted by Russian media said the underwater launch was successful. The missile’s warhead reached the Kura test range on the Kamchatka peninsula in the northwest.
