Rockwell Collins supplies more than 200 part numbers for the aircraft, the first of which launch customer ANA is scheduled to receive in the third quarter. Thanks to its contract with ANA, the manufacturer is stocking spares in Japan for the first time, says Scott Gunnufson, VP and general manager of Rockwell Collins Service Solutions.
The manufacturer also is opening a service center in Seattle this month dedicated to supportingand its assets on the 787. Gunnufson says the company has dedicated a lot of time over the past three years determining where best to stock spares and add maintenance shops. He says Rockwell Collins is “looking at placing assets in India,” and will probably make that decision in the next three to four months.
