Lufthansa’s supervisory board yesterday waved through the acquisition of Austrian Airlines. Lufthansa will initially buy the 41.5% stake now owned by Austria’s state holding company OEIAG, but plans to take full control soon. The German carrier is paying OEIAG an initial EUR366,000 (US$465,620) for the stake, but the price could go up to EUR162 million depending on the new subsidiary’s financial performance. Austrian’s other shareholders are offered a total of EUR215 million. ...
