A group of space agencies and experts have taken the first step towards forming an international body which could assume global responsibility for planning, preparing and responding to the threat of an asteroid impacting Earth. The meeting, which took place in Pasadena, Calif in late August, involved NASA, ESA and national space agencies from Germany and France.
