Following a delay of more than two months, Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) launched six second-generation Orbcomm communications satellites atop a Falcon 9 v1.1 rocket July 14. The two-stage Falcon 9 lifted off at 11:15 a.m. EDT from Cape Canaveral AFS, Florida, carrying six Orbcomm OG2 satellites weighing 172 kg (380 lbs) each to an altitude of 743 km.
