Sikorsky has named GE Aviation to power the S-97 Raider, its next-generation helicopter candidate.
Self-funded, the Sikorsky proposal is to be a light tactical helicopter with an 11,000 lb. maximum gross weight and featuring coaxial counter-rotating main rotors and a pusher propeller.
Currently in the advanced design stage, the prototype is to fly in 2014. GE will provide the YT706-GE-700R, a T700/CT7-derivative currently used on the MH-60M. The YT706 produces 2,500-3,000 shp and includes a full-authority digital engine control system....More
