Airlines Face December Cargo Inspection Deadline 

As the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) latest cargo security deadline for passenger air carriers nears, much has changed since the original Dec. 31, 2011, date, but some of the concerns have not. The carriers must be able to inspect 100% of their cargo traveling on international U.S.-bound flights by Dec. 3. The TSA postponed its original mandate after nearly one-third of the airlines commenting on the deadline balked at the time frame allotted, according to Government Accountability Office (GAO) reports.

PTC Acquires Servigistics For $220 Million
In a bid to expand its service lifecycle management services, technology company PTC announced that it will acquire SLM software company Servigistics for $220 million in cash. PTC expects to complete the transaction in September.
ATSG Transitions Fleet to Gain Revenues 

Months after losing its second largest customer, Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) is working to improve efficiency by updating its fleet and reorganizing its business. The aircraft leasing and cargo transportation group, which includes ABX Air and Capitol Cargo International Airlines, will be transitioning from its fleet of DC-8 combis to Boeing 757 combis over the next year and will take delivery of three 767-300s over the coming months.
