Obama Nominates Next Joint Chief, Vice Chief

​President Barack Obama has nominated U.S. Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Joseph Dunford to become the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to replace Army Gen. Martin Dempsey. Along with that, he is nominating Air Force Gen. Paul Selva to replace Adm. Sandy Winnefeld as the vice chairman. Selva is current commander for U.S. Transportation Command. Before assuming their new roles, both will have to be approved, first by the Senate Armed Services Committee, and then by the entire Senate.
